Parking and reversing of articulated commercial vehicles requires special driving skills for a successful accomplishment of the maneuver towards the distribution center. Drivers often lack visibility around the required area of interest, resulting in unnecessary delays or even damage. This presentation proposes novel conceptual solution, currently developed by HAN Automotive Research, which employs an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as a ‘last mile’ support for human driven and automated vehicles. The solution makes use of an open toolchain for model-based development of embedded control systems.
