Location-awareness specialist, nanotron Technologies, launched its next generation swarm module. It’s called swarm bee LE signifies an autonomous swarm radio node with very low energy (LE) consumption. As for previous swarm products nanotron utilizes its proven Chirp radio technology for this product, too. Chirp radios provide robust and reliable radio links required in industrial applications. Nanotron’s patented SDS-TWR ranging method allows for concurrent communication and positioning without infrastructure.
The new swarm bee LE device combines accurate and precise location information with 3D acceleration sensing in a low-cost wireless module. The module supports collaborative location required for collision avoidance solutions (CAS) and high-throughput positioning needed for tracking.
Emerging industrial and consumer applications require both aspects.
“By offering both collaborative ranging-based location and scalable fixed positioning with infrastructure nanotron enables entirely new solutions. World-wide mining markets represent one of the application areas.” explains Dr. Jens Albers, CEO of nanotron and ads: “Mine operators are in need of significant productivity gains to mitigate the current economic situation. Location-awareness throughout the mine and reuse of the communication and location infrastructure with inexpensive wireless sensors are the foundation.”
The swarm bee LE module with its new swarm 2 API is available in volume from November 15, 2014. New product developments based on swarm bee LE with customers in industrial and mining markets have started already.
Nanotron’s swarm products pave the way for exploring swarm intelligence to increase safety and productivity.
