‘Brain professor’ Erik Scherder gives opening lecture during E&A 2023
Erik Scherder, professor of neuropsychology and movement sciences, will give a lecture during Electronics & Applications 2023 on 26 September. The well-known scientist will shed light on the latest developments in science and what we have learned about our brains. This well-known name will appeal to visitors to E&A and boost visitor recruitment.
Scherder is a familiar face in the media. The professor conducts research into the influence of music and movement on the brain. For example, he published a book on this subject, entitled Singing in the brain. Scherder also studies the relationship between physical (in)activity and behavior in people with and without dementia.
Scherder’s keynote forms the basis for an extensive three-day lecture program during E&A. More than a hundred exhibitors will show their innovations on the exhibition floor. In this way, the visitor is informed in no time about the latest developments in the electronics chain. During E&A, exhibitors also organize how the trade fair gadget is produced live and visitors can participate in the ‘Best solderer of the Benelux’ competition for the second time.
At the same time, visitors to the exhibition can also visit the LabNL exhibition. This trade fair for the laboratory market is organized simultaneously with E&A 2023, also in hall 7. Both fairs can be visited free of charge after registration.
Give a lecture during the E&A fair
The enthusiasm for the E&A fair from 26 to 28 September is great! Together with the exhibitors, we already are shaping the seminar program and projects. During the seminars, experts share their experiences and knowledge with the visitor so that they do not just attend the fair to pay a visit to the participating exhibitors, but they are updated about the latest themes, opportunities and challenges in our market aswell.
A great way to get in touch with visitors of the fair. After all, the interest in the theme is already there! There is still room to give a presentation in six seminars.
- E-Mobility
- Industrial Design
- Embedded Software Design
- Design for Circularity
- Supply Chain/ Obsolescence management
- Searching for and retaining technical personnel
E-Mobility
The electrification of vehicles is experiencing enormous growth. An essential role is reserved for electronics (hardware and software). What are the current challenges in the e-mobility market and how can we solve/improve them through hardware (e.g. batteries/power electronics) and software developments?
Industrial Design
During this seminar, we inform interested parties about the possibilities and challenges in the design of products, devices or machines that can be used in the industry. Subjects that can be discussed are, for example: User Interface Design, HMI and housings. The seminar is interesting for product designers, electronics developers, software and hardware manufacturers/suppliers.
Embedded Software Design
This seminar informs engineers and users of embedded software about the possibilities and challenges in the design of (embedded) software for products, devices or machines. The software largely determines the functionality of products. Important questions can be: how do I keep this software up-to-date remotely? And what about traceability, service life, reliability and quality management?
Design for Circularity
Partly due to the current scarcity of (raw) materials, circular design is more relevant than ever. Design for circularity contributes to extending the life cycle of products so that they need to be replaced less quickly. Another important aspect is the re-use and (possible) transformation of the raw materials when the product has reached the end of its lifespan. In a products design, it is also important to use sustainable materials. How we, as an electronics industry, can contribute to the circular economy is the subject of this seminar.
Supply Chain/ Obsolescence management
In the current scarcity of components, these topics are more crucial than ever. Supply chain management is about strategically coordinating supply chains, whereby good cooperation with partners both inside and outside the chain is essential. When the components of a product are no longer available, or when delivery times are extremely long, the search for a replacement component with the same functionalities and specifications begins (obsolescence management). In addition to components, obsolescence management also applies to software, materials and processes. Obsolescence management and supply chain management reduce risks and increase the profitability of a product.
Finding and retaining technical personnel
It is well known that many companies are looking for technical personnel. Vacancies often remain unfilled for a long time, the influx of technicians from schools and universities is limited and in certain regions the problem is even more urgent due to an increased demand for (high) tech companies. To maintain/improve our competitive position in the Benelux, personnel is extremely important. In this seminar we look, among other things, at possibilities and tools for companies in the field of internal training, retraining, referral recruitment and we make a link to schools/universities with the aim of finding and retaining personnel.
Are you interested in being involved in the above seminars? Please contact Marc Berkouwer and we will inform you about a date for the next meeting.
It is still possible to express your interest in Internet of Things, Hardware Design and Electronics Production, but these titles are currently full.
We would like to hear which seminar you can contribute to or for which seminar you want to think about the details!
More information about the fair
New E&A-gadget announced
The new gadget of E&A 2023 is known. After an exciting vote, the interactive coaster from Ideetron emerged as the winner. The coaster contains a sensor that activates LED lights after movement. So if you put a cup on the coaster, the lights will turn on automatically. This is both beautiful and practical, because in the twilight you will never accidentally put your cup next to the coaster again!
Sponsors
The coaster in the shape of a hexagram has a fresh and modern design that comes into its own in any interior. The voters praised the product’s wide applicability and the playful and surprising light effect. True to tradition, the gadget is designed, tested and produced by exhibitors at the E&A fair. Ideetron makes the design and manages the project. In addition, we are, from within the organization, looking for sponsors for the components, testing and measuring of the gadget, production and overall financial sponsorship.
Promotion
In return, FHI is taking all sponsors along in the promotional activities surrounding the exhibition gadget, in the run-up to the exhibition. We promote the gadget on our websites and LinkedIn, among others. A great opportunity to put your company in the spotlight in a fun way and to make use of the wide reach and marketing efforts of FHI.
Participation
A total of 1500 gadgets will be produced. Are you interested in sponsoring or would you like to know more about the project? Please contact project manager Melvin Brink for the possibilities.
