CUI Inc announced the introduction of a 3000 W front-end ac-dc power supply for mission critical (N+1) redundant applications. The PSE-3000-48 delivers a power density of 33.48 W/cubic inch and achieves Platinum efficiency in a compact standard 1U package measuring just 1.6 x 4 x 14 inches (40.64 x 101.6 x 355.6 mm). The power supply is preset to output 48 Vdc with an adjustable output from 42 V to 55 V for wireless and broadcast applications. Hot swap blind-docking capability is implemented through the use of a single connector that integrates ac, dc and I/O signals. With a typical efficiency of 94% at 50% load, the power supply is also ideal for telecom, server and networking applications where reducing energy consumption is of critical concern.
The PSE-3000-48 features system communications via I2C/PMBus™ protocol for control and monitoring of the unit. The main 48 Vdc output delivers up to 62.5 A with droop current sharing for paralleling multiple units. Standby outputs of 3.3 Vdc or 5 Vdc at 2 A are provided. For maximum flexibility, the series is available in front-to-back or back-to-front airflow configurations depending on the application’s cooling requirements. The PSE-3000-48 also offers 60950-1 safety approvals, bears the CE Mark, and complies with all applicable EMC requirements to accommodate world wide applications. Protections for over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and input under-voltage are standard.
An optional 1U 19” power shelf is available to hold up to 4 power supplies for 12 KW parallel operation, 9 KW N+1 redundant operation, or dual 6 KW “A” & “B” output channel operation. The dc output terminal blocks can be configured to be single or dual polarity.
