5G is identified as key enabler for future industrial automation which is characterised by flexible and modular production systems. In comparison to legacy industrial networks, 5G allows a more flexible and versatile data and communication infrastructure that can support quick reconfiguration of production facilities. This talk will focus on (potential) industrial use cases where 5G adds value, as well as major 5G components in support of industrial automation. The talk will also share TNO’s activities in the relevant topics and calls for actions required.
