More and more, FPGA’s are used as platform for programmable systems, including DSP and processor cores running real-time software. FPGA vendors follow this trend with the introduction of System On Chip (SoC) platforms that integrate ARM® CPUs, FPGA fabric and lots of peripherals in a single chip. SoCs are ideal to improve system performance and flexibility and reduce power, cost, and board size by integrating embedded software and programmable logic in a single device.
Finally, high-level design tools like High Level Synthesis (HLS), OpenCL and Model-based design becoming more readily available to program these complex devices.
The presentation will focus on Model-based design for FPGA and SoC systems with main topics:
- Model Driven SCARA Robot braking system development
- Software and Hardware Co-Design targeting Intel PSG (Altera) and Xilinx custom SoC platforms
- Custom Power Control Application development with the MATLAB Simulink Embedded/HDL Coder workflow
