Investment in smart factories with AI/ML optimized processes and expensive visualizations are entirely redundant without reliable and accurate data upon which insights can be based. One challenge to this are the varied data formats sourced from assembly and test stations along the line. A translation layer can be implemented to reformat data sitting between stations and the data lake, but the more effective solution is to enforce data standardization in the first place. This is not easy as it requires technical, political, and organizational alignment.
This presentation will look at best practice for software and data standardization focusing on functional test but addressing every station on the line. The result will be a trusted data foundation upon which a smart factory can flourish.
