E&A 2021 is cancelled from September 28th-30th
FHI, as the organizing association, made the decision to not let Electronics & Applications 2021 take place this September.
Due to the ongoing corona measures and the uncertainty surrounding the duration of those measures, we believe that we can’t offer you all the opportunities for a good exhibition experience. In particular, the rules around 1.5 meters distancing causes too many restrictions on the exhibition floor.
In consultation with the Jaarbeurs, the exhibition organization is currently looking at the possibility to move Electronics & Applications to November 2021. We will provide you with more information about this shortly. If you have already registered, we will also inform you how you can keep your registration for a free visit.
Of course we are very disappointed that the fair will not take place in September 2021.
We thank you for your understanding and wish you all the best.
Kind Regards,
FHI, Federation of Technology Branches

Smart Industry within electronics production: opportunity or illusion?
On Wednesday, September 29, the ‘Smart Industry’ seminar will take place during Electronics & Applications 2021. This meeting – which will take place from 9.00 to 12.30 in the Croesefoyer in the Jaarbeurs – is about making efficiency improvements within electronics production. What role does Smart Industry play in this and what are the challenges in this area?
Spread over half a day, five experts will speak about the latest developments and trends in their field. Smart Industry occupies a prominent place there. In this seminar, the speakers will highlight the benefits of smarter, more efficient and more effective production. This can be achieved by linking production processes with ICT (machine to machine communication).
Seeking cooperation with multiple companies within the chain is a good way to be successful. But how do you ensure that your efforts pay off and that Smart Industry turns out to be an opportunity and not an illusion? In a seminar, the speakers look for answers. There are five sessions to attend.
In his presentation ‘The right choices at the right time’, Steven van Hout of VDL tbp electronics takes a closer look at the decision-making process. When is it wise to act? And how can maintenance costs be minimized?
The lecture by Jan Van Lieshout from Smans and Anton van Limpt from Bestronics is called ‘Smart Industry makes reshoring really work’ and is about the opportunities that exist to bring production back from low-wage countries. This is done on the basis of practical examples.
Twan Aldenzee of Mycronic explains in his seminar ‘Improve the First Pass Yield: Prevent pasta-related defects’ how to increase the First Pass Yield within SMT production. In this session, among other things, the foundation of the process and the importance of applying solder paste in the right way are discussed.
One of the newest methods for smarter production is the integration of a high speed fine pitch paste jetter in the SMD molding machine. Tom Van Tongelen of Smd-Tec discusses this theme in his lecture ‘Paste & Place: Process improvement and fast time to market through a combination of paste jetting & component placement’.
William Baars from C.N. Rood closes the program. In his English-language session ‘The Good, the Bad and the Dirty: Practical advice for data standardization across your test line’, he takes a closer look at the impact of data when it comes to smart solutions. How do you make sure you find the best software?
You can now register for this seminar via this link. Via this link you can also register for a free exhibition visit and to collect the gadget.
Visitor survey: great need for physical edition Electronics & Applications 2021
Electronics & Applications 2021 will take place in the Jaarbeurs from Tuesday 28 to Thursday 30 September. This trade fair covers the entire electronics chain: the entire range from print to product is present. A recent survey shows that visitors to E&A have a need for a trade fair where knowledge sharing and opportunities for networking are central. Electronics & Applications 2021 responds to this wish and brings colleagues together in a program that can be followed both online and offline.
The survey was sent out to former visitors of E&A 2017 and E&A 2019. When asked whether people would visit a trade fair at the end of September if the corona measures allow it, approximately eighty percent of the respondents answered ‘yes’. A few would not consider a visit to the fair, while approximately eighteen percent are considering a visit when all corona measures have been lifted.
The majority of the respondents would like to visit this event. For example, about seventy percent indicate that they are willing to take a corona rapid test if it gives them access to the fair. When asked when they would visit a trade fair, almost sixty percent of the respondents indicated that they would certainly do so if the current corona measures were withdrawn. A small part of the respondents indicated that they are more interested in online meetings.
Personal contact
The number of respondents who indicate that they are more interested in just an online conference program instead of a physical exhibition visit is relatively small. About three percent prefer this setup. About eighty percent prefer a physical event with seminars, because they need personal contact. About twenty percent think a hybrid event is a great solution. This combination of a physical event and a seminar program that can also be followed online is the format chosen by the Electronics & Applications 2021 organization.
For about 88 percent of the respondents, the main reason for a visit to the fair is to gain knowledge in the field of technological developments. An almost equally large number of respondents also consider the provision of information to be a good motive for visiting the Jaarbeurs. Networking is a good reason for half of the respondents to visit the event. A visit to the fair is a success for visitors if there are innovations on display, there are good networking opportunities and there is a lot of room for information.
The exhibition floor of Electronics & Applications 2021 is almost full: a total of 100 companies have already been allocated a place in hall 7 of the Jaarbeurs. With this full occupation, E&A will be the electronics fair in 2021 that you as a visitor should attend. First hybrid trade fair FHI: Electronics & Applications 2021 developed online and offline
Bringing the online and offline community together is extremely important to FHI. There is a digitization process going on at the trade association, but that does not mean that events have been forgotten. Trade fair Electronics & Applications 2021 will take place from Tuesday 28 to Thursday 30 September 2021 in the Jaarbeurs. Live encounters and online meetings come together here in hybrid form.
There is plenty of opportunity for networking on the exhibition floor. The production square and the Live PIL also play a major role. The exhibition gadget is created on this part of the exhibition floor. This year it is the E&A parrot: a digital parrot that various exhibitors put together at the Jaarbeurs. There is also plenty of room for exhibitors to show their latest innovations on the demo square. So there is a lot to experience for visitors.
Normally, those who stay at home are wrong, but in the case of E&A 2021, that is not the case! This year, the trade fair can also be viewed from the comfort of your own armchair. The seminars can also be followed via a stream. This webinar can be viewed at any time. This way people have to follow that knowledge session. Due to the corona crisis, FHI was forced to make a digitization move. That paid off and a new target audience is known. The digital events attract a different kind of visitor. At some online FHI events, as much as 70 to 80 percent of registrations are new.
Studio
The bundling of physical and digital will happen more often in the future at FHI. A studio has been set up for webinars and knowledge sessions to take place. This studio is also very suitable for promoting E&A 2021. Members can use this space and equipment at a rate. It is an ideal way to record a video calling on men to visit the fair. On the exhibition floor, you can strengthen existing ties, meet new customers and see the latest trends and innovations with your own eyes.
As a trade association, FHI considers it very important to bring parties together. The hybrid event is the perfect example of this.
E&A Parrot trade show gadget spreads wings
At Electronics & Applications 2021 (E&A 2021) a prominent place has been reserved for the E&A Parrot. This gadget comes to life on the exhibition floor. Visitors who travel to the Jaarbeurs in the period between Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 September have a chance to obtain this coveted electronic parrot that appears in a limited edition.
