Lunchsessie Daan Stevenson over 'On Body Charge Measurement for ESD Control'
Hierbij nodigen wij je uit voor de online lunchsessie van Daan Stevenson van Iona Tech op dinsdag 25 juni van 13.30 tot 14.30 uur. In zijn engelstalige presentatie gaat Daan Stevenson in op ‘On Body Charge Measurement for ESD Control’.
---
Beschrijving:
The existing instrumentation equipment used for mitigating ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) in e.g. electronics manufacturing is technologically outdated. Recent innovations in electric field mill design have enabled in-situ measurement of electric fields, and thereby the local charge concentration on the surface of the human body. This charge measurement is proportional to the human body voltage under certain conditions, as empirically verified with existing body voltage measurement techniques. The resulting product is a wireless and wearable device that acts as both a Walking Body Voltage Test and a Static Field Meter, with a wide range of applications for the ESD mitigation industry. For the first time, the charge that causes electronics damage from ESD is easily detectable, while providing traceable data to support ESD mitigation efforts.
Introductie Daan Stevenson
Daan has a background in mechanical and aerospace engineering. During his doctoral research, he studied the high-voltage charging of spacecraft, which are electrical capacitors in the same way that the human body is. While working to design an automated ground station for UAVs, he frequently damaged electrical components with electrostatic shocks. This motivated him to found IONA Tech with the goal of advancing technology in ESD mitigation.
IONA Tech produces novel data driven products for monitoring electrostatic discharge (ESD), which is the single most significant source of product loss in electronics manufacturing. To date, ESD has been difficult to prevent because of the lack of visibility and traceable data. IONA Tech's offerings change all that. The StatIQ Band is a wearable device that measures the user's human body voltage and identifies discharges that cause latent damage while handling sensitive electronics. This data is transmitted to various back ends, including a mobile application, which enables quality control managers to reduce product loss from ESD and significantly increase their yield.
