Industrial Ethernet Networks become more and more complex. The reasons for sporadic incidents are diverse and often not limited to one location. To solve the problem the constructor, service or maintenance technician needs to know if it’s a application programming failure, a network problem or EMC. Often, due to the sporadic an unpredictable nature of the incidents, the first answer is: network or EMC.
This lecture will discuss the possible reasons for network and/or EMC incidents and will show how modern managed switches can support the constructor, service or maintenance technician to detect a network or EMC problem with “on board” diagnostics. Or to draw the conclusion that there isn’t a network or EMC problem, but that the incident is caused by a application programming failure.
