The LED lighting market is still growing rapidly, as these products offer users an opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint as well as their energy costs. Lamp and luminaire manufacturers can demonstrate the efficacy of their products by having them tested to relevant standards. The Illuminating Engineering Society standard LM-79-08 (Electrical and Photometric Measurements of Solid-State Lighting Products) is widely accepted for this purpose.
We are thoroughly familiar with this standard and our accredited laboratories can test your products to it. This gives you access to global markets as our test reports and certificates are accepted worldwide. Tests to LM-79 are also essential if you want to target businesses in the Netherlands intending to invest in energy-efficient lighting.
Tax allowance in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, businesses investing in energy-efficient assets can benefit from an enhanced capital allowance (Energie-Investeringsaftrek, EIA) to reduce the amount of tax they have to pay. To qualify for this allowance, energy-efficient lighting must be tested to LM-79-08, it needs to deliver a specified efficacy (in lm/W; the requirement depends on the type of luminaire) and it must have a power factor of at least 0.90. The tax allowance is available for a range of lighting systems for general use, stage lighting and greenhouse lighting.
