Core points of the presentation:
• Our power infrastructure is still 230VAC
• Energy generation and consumption however is nearly always DC based:
– Solar panels are DC
– rechargeable batteries are DC
– LED lighting is DC
– IT infrastructure is DC
• So why do we power convert and connect all to 230VAC if most devices are DC based?
IF DC is a logical next step, what would be a suitable voltage?
• Since July 2015, nearly the whole world considers 60VDC as ‘safe’,
– Europe as SeLV
– USA as UL Class 2
• But can we light a building with such as low voltage?
• What are pro’s and con’s of a Low Voltage infrastructure?
What are other industries doing
– What is happening in automotive?
– What is happening in consumer electronics?
– What is happening in IT
– What voltages power smart IoT sensors and controls?
Met de aanwezigen worden in het tweede gedeelte van de presentatie gediscussieerd over bovenstaande thema’s.
