The past year has highlighted the fragility of our healthcare systems when confronted to emerging pathogens, as well as the importance of proper diagnosis of infectious diseases. The current diagnostic techniques have important limitations. On one hand, the most accurate techniques on the market are laborious and logistically demanding. On the other, rapid diagnostic tests are easy to use but lack accuracy.
Rapidemic is developing an innovative platform technology that enables fast and accurate point-of-care testing of patients infected with pathogens. They make use of molecular biology methods to detect a specific genetic sequence of the pathogen and provide an easy readout. They bring the accuracy of PCR out of the lab, and into the doctors’ office.
