In an earlier chapter we had shown in a video the manufacturing process of a 4 -layer multilayer. The PCB manufacturer needs about 20 steps to align and register the individual layers. Despite increasingly better systems and tools, the registration of the individual layers is never perfect.
With a lot of process experience and expertise, the PCB manufacturer compensates for this offset as best as possible during production, but a tolerance, the so-called layer offset, remains. Our video explains the details:
