In this third part of our series of Quality in PCB Production, we visit the “pathology department”. Here, our specialists disect the PCB to look inside. This allows us to determine, for example, whether holes are correctly and continuously metallised or whether the layer thicknesses are within acceptable tolerances. For this, samples have to be prepared and examined under the microscope. The term for this is micrographs.
