TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) is mainly known from systematic innovation and solving complicated technical issues. This presentation discusses how TRIZ tools can be used effectively throughout the design process and how it forces R&D organisations to think and act from Physics of Failure (PoF) to improve predictability. Furthermore, the need for systematic reliability engineering will be discussed on the basis of the topics: managing failure behaviour, Time to Market (TTM) and Costs of Reliability (CoR).
