In the nineteenth century several accidents made scientists aware of the phenomenon of fatigue. After a short introduction to the development of fatigue modeling, we’ll give two examples of the methods to analyze fatigue life: one including many data, the other with just a few. Then the attention will be directed to situations in which large-scale testing is no longer possible. This is the case, for instance, when there are only a few products available. We end the contribution with a request.
