Today’s very competitive aerospace and defence market drives companies to significantly shorten time to market and lower product development cost, without compromising quality. The traditional engineering processes for development and certification of aerospace products have shown their limitations to achieve these challenging objectives.
New engineering processes, based on Simulation Driven Product Development – SDPD approach, heavily rely on credible simulations for risk-informed decision making and product certification. The fundamental difference of the SDPD approach compared to the traditional ones lies in the role of simulation and physical testing in the product development and certification. In the traditional approach, physical testing is mainly used for the certification of products, while in the SDPD approach, credible simulations are used to assess the system for integrity and fulfilment of the requirements, as well as for the certification of the flight models. This presentation will address building credible simulation from the experimental data, which are obtained from a dedicated simulation and test pyramid.
