Measuring power electronics can be a real challenge when you realize that your probe is part of the circuit and also has its own characteristics. In the presentation we discuss the influence of the probe by considering the signal path from source to measuring device. From this model we explain the various effects that can be expected depending on the probe choice. Effects can be for example ringing, overshoot and more. Being aware of these effects, not only the optimal probe can be selected for a given measurement, but also it is easier to recognize probe induced effects on the signal.
