The integration of large-scale electrolysis plants within congested electricity grid often has severe impact on the execution of projects, as tightened requirements cause delay and/or significant cost increases. The greater the share of renewable energy within total electricity production and the greater the combined scale of electrolysis projects becomes, the greater its impact will be.
This presentation will focus on the drivers for these events, providing essential insights on the challenges of grid operators, why and how this is translated into grid requirements, and solutions to handle this within the power supplies for large-scale electrolysis projects. Furthermore, an outlook is provided to future developments and both the challenges and opportunities these represent for large-scale electrolysis projects.
