This presentation focus on the power distribution system suitable for a Pipistrel Velis electric aircraft. The energy system consists of a multi-port multi-source power inverter which is able to integrate a battery energy storage system, a hydrogen fuel-cell range extender, and the electric powertrain. In this circuit configuration a key challenge exists for the controllability of power transfer between the two DC connected energy storage systems and the operation of the motor. Therefore, a suitable multi-objective vector modulation strategy is introduced to maximize the available output power of the fuel-cell while enabling constant power at the motor during asymmetric power sharing and unbalanced DC voltage conditions.
