Battery energy storage systems (BESS) have been recently pointed out as a prominent option to support the power grid by providing different global and local ancillary services. However, despite its benefits from a technical perspective, there are still challenges related to its economic viability.
This presentation will focus on potential grid services from BESS and how to optimize the sizing (energy and power) for individual and simultaneous services, considering factors like capital costs, battery life span, and impact on the electricity grid.
