The Dual Active Bridge DC-DC converter is a promising choice to achieve high power density
and efficiency for interfacing low- and high-voltage batteries of PHEVs and BEVs. The 3-5L DAB can generate two additional voltage levels, which provides more flexibility for shaping the inductor current which brings advantages. A modulation strategy has been derived and a prototype DAB converter is realized to verify the 3-5L DAB principle.
