(Steinenbronn) With three connection techniques for one socket, the electrical company Telegärtner Karl Gärtner GmbH presents highly flexible and user-friendly products of the new 4.3-10 connector series. With 48 % less space requirement and a saving on weight of more than 50 %, the compact new developments enable much better packing densities. Nevertheless, the performance features are excellent.
“Now four instead of three connectors can be accommodated in the same area without users having to fear limitations for the transmission properties – on the contrary,” Björn Jacoby, Coax Manager at Telegärtner Karl Gärtner GmbH assures us. The electrical performance of the new 4.3-10 connector for instance – unlike the predecessor technology 7-16 – is independent of the coupling torque. Up to 500 Watt can be transmitted at 2 GHz. A reliable seal concept for the interface allows outdoor applications.
Versatile connection technique
A highlight is the versatile connection technology. ‘Screw’, ‘Handscrew’ and ‘Push-Pull’ are three variants of the plugs. An open-ended wrench-based hexagon head screw, an easy-grip, riffled, round union nut or the push-pull ring all enable a reliable connection. Whilst the Screw type with a recommended tightening torque of 5 Nm can be used for extreme ambient outdoor conditions, the manufacturer recommends the Handscrew type which can be screwed manually without tools also for indoor applications. A special loosening lock prevents unwanted loosening of the coupling nut. The also toolless, selflocking push-pull type is the fastest connection variant for indoor and outdoor applications.
Regardless of which connector type you choose, there is just one socket which fits all. This simplifies the combination requirement and makes warehouse logistics easier. A secure and powerful connection is achieved with all three connector versions. This flexibility enables users to always find exactly the right product for their very special application according to space requirements, connection preferences or application site.
4.3-10 connector series is being standardised
The new, compact and installation-friendly 4.3-10 connector series was developed by Telegärtner in co-operation with three other manufacturers for the growing demands of mobile radio applications. Their small size and low weight make the connectors ideal for the miniaturisation of mobile radio network elements. However, they still achieve excellent return loss and passive intermodulation (PIM) values. The technology has very good chances to be standardised by DKE and IEC and to become the future market standard for mobile radio applications.
