The next coming 5G is expected to bring railway services to a whole new dimension. New architectures that include virtual radio access network (vRAN) will allow new applications with multiple additional benefits : performance gains, scalability, TCO reduction. Thanks to vRAN architecture, the radio network will indeed be more open and flexible, making it possible deployment of additional value-add mobile services at the network edge.
The conference will focus on :
- on the road to 5G : vRAN, a key step for efficient scaling networks
- what is vRAN : definitions and implementation
- what are the benefits of virtualizing radio networks
- what are the applications of such technologies specifically in the railway sector
