Productbeschrijving:
The B.SIGHT uses cutting-edge optical and single cell dispensing technology to enable the single cell isolation of microbiome samples. It consists of a microfluidic system, which constantly produces microdroplets of the target suspension, combined with high resolution optical microscopy and real-time image analysis. After ejection from the nozzle of the cartridge filled with the mixed sample, the micro-droplets are either discarded by vacuum if containing no or multiple cells or dispensed onto the agar or liquid medium placed below in case a single cell was detected. This system can efficiently separate microbiome and cultures of both fluorescent and wild-type bacteria into either liquid culture or agar. The B.SIGHT is the only single cell dispenser that can enable effecient cloning of small bacteria directly into liquid culture.
Toegepaste innovaties:
The device is very simple to operate. the user can simply pipette the microbiome or cultured bacteria into the disposable cartridge. The user then mounts the cartridge on the B.SIGHT, adds a microwell plate manually or through a robotic arm, adjusts the settings and then start dispensing single bacteria onto the individual wells.
The benefit of the b.sight over traditional colony picking is that it can save a lot of time and resources. The traditional isolation of bacteria require plating on agar followed by waiting for growth and then colony picking. Labs use many plastic plates with agar, and have to wait several days to get clones. the b.sight can get clones directly into liquid culture and saves time and decrease plastic waste.
Green tech award, duurzame features en innovaties:
The B.SIGHT revolutionize single microbial isolation by allowing direct dispensing into liquid culture. Using this device results in significantly less plastic plates that are otherwise needed for agar plating and colony picking. Moreover, the B.SIGHT is used in microbiome research which has many applications that contribute to sustainability such as sustainable food, feed, biofuel production, and waste management.
